Want to shop for a good cause?

Something Old Something New (SOSN) will be having their annual flea market next weekend, 29 March 2014, from 9am – 5pm, at Simei Care Centre.

I’m excited to be a part of this initiative! 7 other bloggers (including Christabel, Elaine), and myself, will be part of the day’s highlight — A fashion show, where we will walk down the runway with the beneficiaries from Simei Care Centre, in our thrifted and handpicked outfits.

As you might have realised, this is my very first nonfood-related post, but it’s all for a good social cause!

Here’s how I coordinated the two lovely dresses which I thrifted for a weekend get-up.

They have many other lovely apparels. For example, tops are going for as low as $2 each, and they are all in great condition!

Besides clothes (men, women, children), they also have a range of items including toys, books, bags, shoes, VCD, DVD, household items, electrical appliance. All proceeds will return to help those with mental illnesses in their rehabilitation.

Expect a line-up of other events including Zumba, a fashion show, balloon sculpting, hip-hop and Kpop dances, and more, on the day of the event. Hope to see you there!

  • SOSN is a social enterprise under the umbrella of Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS).
  • SOSN has a business concept of a thrift shop whereby SOSN receives donated items, whether new or used, from the public.
  • The social cause of SOSN is to provide employment opportunities for members with psychiatric disabilities which assists them in their journey towards long-term recovery. SOSN, started in 2000, is now run by full-time staff, volunteers and psychiatric members of Simei Care Centre. The sale proceeds will be channeled back to Simei Care Centre to support the psychiatric rehabilitation services and workshops that are beneficial to our clients.
