[Travels] Food and Travel Guide to Bali, Seminyak

5

Bali is the perfect destination to experience slow-living, witness breathtaking sunsets and disconnect from the world. I picked the Seminyak area for my stay and felt that it is a good blend of hip beach bars, beautiful beaches, food and shopping. Complete your experience with a stay in a gorgeous resort, villa or hotel. Many of the Balinese I have met are genuinely warm and friendly people. The beauty of Bali is in its essence, which makes Bali more than just a fun-in-the-sun retreat.

Sea Circus is one of my favourite places to be in Bali. Their vibrant and chirpy interior is sure to put you in a happy mood. Apart from their enticing cocktails, they are also known for their gourmet coffee. Sea Circus sure knows what a good coffee entails. Order the Affogato that comes with a generous scoop of homemade vanilla bean ice cream and you will not be disappointed. On your way out, treat yourself to a tall serving of ice cream- the perfect way to beat the heat!

Sardine is a gorgeous restaurant overlooking rice fields. This charming restaurant is sure to please both your eyes and palate. Expect the freshest produce as they grow their own vegetables. The menu serves up a plethora of healthy, tasty and light dishes that complements the warmer climate of Bali. To complete the amazing dining experience, the service staff are one of the friendliest people I have met on this trip.

Made Warung may be a tourist spot but it is somewhere you can go to try most of the traditional Indonesian cuisine in a comfortable setting. If you are lucky, you will be able to witness Indonesian dance performances as you dine. The Indonesian food served at Made Warung surpasses my expectations. Some of the must-try are the satay, grilled fish and Nasi Campur.

Bali has one of the most gorgeous sunsets in Asia. For my stay in Bali, I picked a different beach bar each day and stayed till the sun set. The sunsets in Bali never fail to leave me awestruck. I would highly recommend visiting Potato Head Beach Club. It has amazing food and drinks, comfortable deck chairs and an infinity pool. Reach a couple of hours before sunset to reserve a good spot where you can get the best view of the sunset. While you are at it, order a mountain of truffle fries and wash it down with a cocktail or two. I’ve also been hooked on to their DJs playlist ever since. The tasteful lounge music really enhances the whole experience and will have you bobbing to the beat.

Another beach bar worth checking out is KU DE TA. Their DJs playlist consisting of ambient and lounge music encapsulates the mood of the moment perfectly, becoming more up-tempo as the night progresses and the party goes into full swing. The place gets pretty crowded so be sure to arrive early to ensure no disappointments! I had one of the best tasting Berry bellinis while enjoying the sunset from the window.
