[Review] Korean-style perm in Silkcut Salon Singapore

A good haircut makes a difference to your appearance and that’s why I’ve always placed great importance on how my hair looks. It also explains why I’m picky when it comes to who handles my hair.

Recently, I was invited by Silkcut Salon to try out their Korean-style Hot Perm service. About half a year ago, I had my hair permed in Korea. I did the C-curls and while I really liked the result, the curls did not last very long and by the third or fourth month, the curls are no longer so apparent.

The service at Silkcut Salon was immaculate. Geri and team took good care of me during my visit. Before perming, Geri provided a short consultation and recommended the type of treatment I should go for. She also gave some advice regarding the shampoo I should use for my hair type. From the start, I already knew I was in good hands. My only requests were to ‘revive’ my curls, to not have it so curly and to add more layers into my hair to increase volume. I also requested for a slight trim.

I appreciate it when hairstylists put in the effort to make the hair wash experience a good one! I think that is one of the things that differentiates one salon from another, and adds to the overall experience. I really enjoyed the hair wash at Silkcut, which was both relaxing and comfortable.

Initially, I was slightly apprehensive that my hair would be damaged after the perm as I had recently permed my hair. However, what’s unique about Silkcut Salon is that they make use of the latest  Korean-style Hot Perm technique and products that are exclusively designed for hot perms. Hence, this ensures that they minimize hair damage at each part of the process and allows for repeated perming.

The Korean-style Hot Perm consists of some of these key components:

– Collagen (for bouncy waves) – Avocado oil (for shine) – Cuticle effect system (for less damage)

The entire process took about 3.5 hours, including one treatment and a haircut, so be prepared to spend at least half an afternoon here.

After-care is key to maintaining your beautiful locks. By Geri’s advice, I took home with me a set of KMS California shampoo and conditioner that is suitable for my curls. From what I know, they are exclusively available at Silkcut Salon. Have you heard? Silkcut Salon is currently having 20% off their KMS California hair products!

It’s been a few days since my perm and my hair does not feel damaged. Guess that’s a testament to the wonders of this acclaimed Korean-style Hot Perm technique! It’s also easy to maintain as I don’t have to apply anything in particular. Although, there are of course options for you to use leave-in hair products. I’m one satisfied customer. Thank you so much Silkcut Salon for the new look! Read on to the bottom of the post for more information on the pricing and other special privileges entitled to my readers!

Thereafter, I made my way to Tastemaker Store (just 2 units away!) for a dose of Matcha Latte. I really liked the ambience and vibes of this quaint Japanese-inspired cafe. Perfect for spending a lazy and quiet afternoon.
