So hipster, it hurts.
Nope. That’s too mainstream.
Here is my rundown of the most Instagram-worthy, most hipster spots in New York City. The places that are perfect for your Instagram grid. From holographic boxes to vegan fastfood, cruffins, pink mosaic tiles and pumpkin spice soft-serve- they have nailed what’s #trending on Instagram.
This might sound superficial and basic, but some of these hipster places actually do have depth. I’ll share more with you.
Love it or hate it, you decide.
PSA. I’m not a hipster.
I was having ice cream at Morganstern’s and spotted someone carrying a fancy holographic box with the word “Supermoon” on it. Curious, I went to look it up on Google. I hurriedly finished my ice cream and made my way down to this spot, some few blocks away.
Then I found out that Supermoon Bakehouse is related to the wildly popular Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in San Francisco. No wonder, they do bear some similarities in terms of their offerings and branding. I think a key difference is that Supermoon bears a more imaginative menu. By the time I arrived at 3 P.M., about half the day’s bakes were sold out. Pity! I enjoyed their pastries, especially the Cruffin and Croissant. The texture of the puff pastry was amazing, and the flavours melded together so nicely.
Supermoon Bakehouse; 120 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002, USA. Opens daily: 8 AM – 5 PM.
2. Cha Cha Matcha
Unfortunately, the pumpkin spice softserve and matcha latte did not quite cut it for me. I prefer my matcha lattes full-bodied and with bitter notes instead of milky. I enjoyed the GTM (Ginger, Tumeric & Matcha) latte though!
Cha Cha Matcha (various outlets); 373 Broome St, New York, NY 10013, USA. Opens Mon to Fri 8 AM-7 PM. Sat & Sun 9 AM – 8 PM.
